 Translucence is an intermediate/advanced text post by post role-play site. While it is an animal/fantasy role-play, we do not have any set species, rather it is a free-for-all creation (we do have some guidelines and restrictions so gameplay is fair and suits the nature of the role-play). The setting? Another state of reality merged with a dreamscape. Translucence takes place in a universe that was once nothing but a void of nothingness. When a scientist from a world like ours taps into it, they are consumed and the void takes form as a device they was carrying - a dream recorder and obtains their knowledge and abilities. The void transforms itself into a dreamscape; thus making it 'real', and starts to use its newfound ability to break into other dimensions, in the way it can - through sleep, and other creature's dreams. The void is not malicious, it simply does it as if does not know any better. Your character's story begins when they are 'stolen' and wake up in this new world. If your character was near-death when they were taken in their dreams, they will wake up with their wounds/illness but not at the fatal degree. Where they wake up is random, but the Translucence's world is not a large one, and is about the size of a small country. The world does have a name - Artemidoros, but the creatures you meet already here do not seem to call it that, they all have various names or basic generic names for things (city being called city etc). Many of the lands and places here are surreal, just like in a dream. What will your character do in this strange new world is up to you. Is it a new start? Or will your character crumble knowing, that there is no true escape.. not even in death. There is no material escape from Artemidoros. It is impossible to escape by finding the boundaries; there are none. The tragic cases of those trying to find escape in death, or those left for death only wake up like they did when they first came into this world. You've just been stolen. |
